Why You Should Add Apricot Kernel Oil to Your Regimen

When I think of Apricots and Skin care, the first thing that comes to mind is St. Ives scrub! Did you ever use that? I did. Years ago. And I am thrilled to be able to indulge in the benefits of Apricots again with Cocoterra’s Apricot Kernel Oil

What are these benefits you wonder? Apricot Kernel Oil is rich in vitamins A, C, E and K, which are antioxidants. The Vitamin E in it also ensures that Apricot Kernel Oil is easily absorbed into your skin. This non-greasy oil is full of minerals like copper, magnesium etc. as well as omega-9 fatty acid and  is also known to soften the skin and deeply hydrate both hair and skin. It is also known for its  anti-inflammatory properties.

Because of the great advantages of Apricot Kernel oil, here are some ways I am planning to use it in the coming months –

Skin

In a scrub with brown sugar to slough off any flaky skin left over from harmattan as we ease into the rainier months.

Hair

In a hair mask combined with honey to serve as a pre-shampoo. I usually cover my hair with a nylon bag disposable shower cap for 15-30 minutes whenever I use a hair mask to encourage steam and maximize absorption into my hair follicles.

Lips

Apricot Kernel oil is an amazing addition to lip balm recipes. When combined with beeswax, Shea butter and your choice of essential oil (we recommend sweet orange essential oil) it moisturises the lips making them feel soft and supple. The vitamin E in Apricot Kernel Oil provides extra protection from the sun.
